Live Bait
The Essex County Co-Op has live bait for fishing! Intended for freshwater fishing, the Co-Op has a selection of worm species that can also be used for reptile and wild bird feeding. The bait is guaranteed to be live and can be stored in the refrigerator until it is used.
The Co-Op stocks night crawlers in different quantities and mealworms. Knutson’s specializes in producing high-quality, Canadian Night Crawlers. The night crawlers come 12 to a container and the baby night crawlers come 24 to a container. Care and preservation of live night crawlers is easy, as they are stored in their perforated container in a refrigerator between 38°F and 42°F.
Mealworms can be used as a fishing bait, however, in recent years they have become popular wild bird food. Bluebirds are highly attracted to mealworms, making these the best item to attract and keep these birds in your yard. These grubs can also be used to feed reptilian pets. Caring for live mealworms is easy, simply keep them in their plastic container between 45°F and 50°F.
