Permethrin Tick Protection

Do you enjoy taking hikes to view fall foliage but worry that you might become the victim of a tick bite? The Co-Op has just the product for you! Sawyer Products Permethrin Insect Repellent is a spray-on, odorless treatment for clothing, gear, and tents. This product repels or kills disease-spreading ticks, mosquitos that could carry West Nile or Zika viruses, and 55 other kinds of insects.

73.6% More Protection from Ticks

Sawyer developed this product after research by the University of Rhode Island concluded that individuals who applied permethrin to their socks and shoes before outdoor activities were 73.6% less likely to have a tick bite than those with untreated socks and shoes. This clothing and gear spray was what they came up with! This spray is specially formulated not to stain or damage your clothing, other fabrics, gear, and equipment. Once dry, it is odorless and is as effective as using 100% DEET.

To apply, spray Sawyer Products Permethrin Insect Repellent directly onto clothing and gear with a slow sweeping motion. The body should be kept 6-8 inches from the item and the item should be treated for about 30 seconds per side. The EPA recommends an application of 4.5 ounces of permethrin to each outfit (consisting of a shirt, pants, and socks) to be worn outside. If used per EPA guidance, one 24 ounce bottle can treat more than five outfits. Once dry, this spray remains effective for up to six weeks of air and sun exposure or up to six washings.

Can I use Sawyer Products Permethrin Insect Repellent on my dog?

Yes! Sawyer Products Permethrin spray can be used on dogs to help control fleas and lice for up to 35 days.
